Comic Portrait
It took a long time to complete this, I did a number of attempts to ink the pencils and they were just not good at all, I thought about giving up but then today I went at it and finished the thing in about an hour.

Another aged comic panel
Did another one of these female comic images, I tend to draw men so I need to practice more on girls.
I also discovered I can use GIMP to do my dot tone color effect, so that gets Photoshop out of the process.

That old comic look.
Here's the final image with a little help from Photoshop's color tone separation abilities. I love to have similar function in Krita.

Comic style tests
Just messing around some more with comic art styling, having spent last night looking at old comic pages from the internet I've decided I need to work on faces more. Also clothing, also...well, everything. I'm just gonna spend the weekend doing quick studies based on photos and see how it goes.

Two pages of my fake comic completed.
Here are the two pages displayed side by side. Happy enough with the result but I have a long way to go, still has an over worked feel, mainly because it was.

My approach to inking
I'm still figuring out how to do this, but it seems I do a first pass ink with a thinner brush, then another pass with the thicker brush to add emphasis or weight, then I do a spotting pass, where I try to add shade and shadow.

Comic Page 2 Pencils
Monday, 16 March 2020
Comic page scores a top row position on Krita Artists website.
Hooray for me!
But then in the comments a spelling error is pointed out.
Always check stuff before posting.

Bottom Panel Pencils
I'm about to commence inking, so I will post the under drawing for posterity, as I tend to delete them once the inks are done.
This whole thing is about testing Krita for making comics, I will say it's text tool isn't optimal, this font won't allow me to make it bold, even if it shows those changes in the text pop-up, they don't translate through to the final result.

Comic art in Krita
Trying to find my feet doing comic style work with Krita. Doing a full blown comic is something I may do, so I tested the waters a bit with an imaginary panel. I don't have the fluid style yet, it took a long time to do this one image and there's so much I don't like about it, perhaps I just hate his face.

Creating characters with Krita's mirror tool.
Today I experimented with the mirror function of Krita, particularly useful when symmetry is needed, like with a face. So I was making heads basically, obviously at some point you switch off the mirror tool and continue, because heads aren't perfectly symmetrical in real life.

Dog image finished (took a while)
I'm done with it.
I think he needs to be higher from the water on a bigger bridge, to emphasize the drop. If I re-do it that would be why.

New Illustration Work-Flow
Just a quick glimpse into starting a project in Krita.
I import a scan of the concept sketch and size it up on the page, then I choose a color palette and make decisions about where to apply it.
I also check to see how it works without the line work, because I may want to go in that direction.
At this stage I'm just making decisions, I haven't yet started doing the actual illustration.
